QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Functional Medicine?

Often when you seek help, you get treated for the symptom, not the reason behind it.

Conventional medicine often offers a pill, hormonal IUD or an anti-depressant.

Many alternative treatments offer herbs, supplements or homeopathy.

The principle is the same: fixing the symptom instead of asking why it occurs.

Functional Medicine and Hormone Therapy do the opposite — we treat at a root cause level and build a solid foundation within for long-lasting results.

Do you work online or in person?

Both. I see clients via online consultations worldwide and in-person in the Bundaberg area.

You will get more details upon request.

What if I have been on the pill for many years?

It is very common and you are not alone. Being on the pill can affect your hormones, nutrient levels, gut health, mood and how your cycle functions.

I will inform you about the hormonal impact birth control has on your wellbeing, and from there it is solely your choice whether you wish to continue or not.

If you choose to come off the pill, we will support your body in gently restoring balance and returning to your natural cycle — replenishing depleted nutrients, supporting your liver and digestion, and helping your hormones find their natural rhythm again.

How do I know if I should take a test or not?

If your symptoms are mild or you are new to Hormone Therapy, a detailed health assessment and HER Method will often go a long way. Most women see great results in the first 2–3 months.

If you want specific results and a clear picture of exactly what is going on in your body, testing is recommended. The DUTCH Test is helpful for complex hormone issues. The GI-MAP Test is beneficial for anything gut and skin related.

If you are in doubt, reach out anytime or book a Free Consult.

What is the DUTCH test?

The DUTCH Test is a simple urine test that gives a deeper look at your hormones and how your body processes them.

It offers specific insights into:

PMS and cycle irregularities

PCOS-related patterns

Stress and cortisol rhythm

Sleep and mood changes

Perimenopause symptoms

It helps us see the 'why' behind your symptoms so we can support your hormones more precisely.

What is the GI-MAP?

The GI-MAP is a gentle, at-home stool test that shows us what is happening inside your gut.

It can highlight things like:

Bacterial imbalances

Inflammation

Yeast or parasites

How well you are digesting and absorbing food

This helps us understand why symptoms like bloating, skin issues, low energy or hormone imbalances may be showing up.

How is this different from going to a doctor?

Conventional medicine diagnoses and treats medical conditions by addressing symptoms and prescribing medication. This might give quick relief, yet it does not address why the imbalance is happening in the first place — which is why symptoms often return.

At Her Hormones, we look at the underlying causes: blood sugar, stress, gut health, liver support and nutrient status. Instead of quick fixes, we create an environment that allows your body to return to balance naturally.

We look at your body as a whole system that works together and supports its own biochemistry.
